Dawayne Choice was born and raised on the West Side of Chicago. He gave his life to Christ January 19, 1991 through the youth ministry of Salem Baptist Church of Chicago. Dawayne has been in fulltime Ministry since graduating from IWU in 2000.
While in Marion, Dawayne had been actively involved in the community in various ways. He enjoyed coaching basketball at the Grant County Boys and Girl’s Club, McCulloch Middle School and Marion High School.
He has also spearheaded several projects that were planned and implemented by students in the community. It has been his passion to equip and empower people around him to make a difference and contribution in their community.
On June 10, 2006 Dawayne married the love of his life, Saylease. Saylease has her M.A.E in Early Childhood Education. She is passionate about working with children and shepherding young couples. In 2007 he embraced his call to Pastoral Ministry. Upon receiving his call, he thought this pathway would lead to an established church, until his heart was gripped to return home after 20 years to plant Engage Christian Church.
Dawayne’s life verse is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.”
