Dawayne Choice was born and raised on the West Side of Chicago. He gave his life to Christ January 19, 1991 at his childhood church. It was during this time, in youth ministry, that he felt the call to ministry. But it wasn’t until his second year of college that he began to fully embrace this call. Dawayne has been in full-time ministry since graduating from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind., in 2000.
On June 10, 2006 Dawayne married, Saylease, the love of his life. Saylease received her bachelor’s of science in Youth Adult and Family Services from Purdue University 2002. She earned a M.A.E in Early Childhood Education from Ball State University in 2005. Saylease is passionate about working with children and shepherding young couples.
In 2007 Dawayne embraced his call to pastoral ministry. Upon receiving his call, he thought this path would lead him to pastor an established church, until his heart was gripped to return home after 20 years to plant Engage Christian Church. Dawayne and Saylease are now responding to the call and vision God placed upon their lives.
